Tears Fall / Wake Up - bryanb

Take the intended spirit of (the ultimately disappointing) Miike Snow, the eclectic adventurousness of TV on the Radio and some of the dread and menace of Fever Ray/The Knife and you come close to defining the brilliant sound that is When Saints Go Machine, a Danish trio that has created one of the most impressive debut albums I have heard all year. Ten Makes a Face was self-produced and written, and it’s been mixed and engineered by Christopher Berg (who also helmed the Fever Ray/Knife projects). The tracks are vibrant and dark at the same time, with a nod to both the Scandinavian pop scene and the American indie rock pantheon. I have a bit of a hard time making out their heavily accented, Danish-tinged English (call it Danglish), which kinda makes me love the tracks even more.
Here are some highlights:
When Saints Go Machine - Pick Up Your Tears and Run (181 kbps)
When Saints Go Machine - Pinned (200 kbps)
When Saints Go Machine - You Or The Gang (200 kbps)
