Here’s a couple of tracks off of Joakim’s soon-to-be-released album Milky Ways. There’s much more emphasis this time around on the live instrumentation of his touring backing band, than previous, mostly digital and studio driven productions. When coupled with his distorted and filtered vocals it creates a nice juxtaposition. The production, especially on Spiders feels very Joe Jackson circa 1981, with it’s crisp, unprogrammed drums and syncopated synthesizers, while the repetitive chant-like verses would nestle in nicely with the newest releases from Dan Deacon and Animal Collective.
