Give Me My Love in July / You Make the Sun Shine - bryanb

Sally Shapiro returns later this summer with her sophomore album, My Guilty Pleasure, a deserving title for devoted fans who have found her cool, icy version of classic italo-disco pop so enjoyable.

Two standout tracks from the album both wade deeply into that Mediterranean pool, but also expand the palette into other dance genres. Moonlight Dance incorporates early 80’s electro bursts and a wafting, slinky bass guitar line while Love In July explores early 90’s Paradise Loft era piano house. What I find remarkable, is that with each sonic ebb and flow, Sally adapts her voice elegantly and with considerable control. She subtlety alters her deliveries while maintaining that characteristic soft, unassuming tone.
