The Great Escape - V
I’ve taken some much needed time away from the shadows of Chicago’s skyline, cavorting off to the West for a few days in Las Vegas and now, LA. It’s sunny, I’m all smiles and in some lovely ironic twist the internet only works while sitting outside. It’s been a wonderfully self-reflective trip and I’ve had the perfect soundtrack the past few days thanks to Barcelona quintet Extraperlo.
Disco is a term that most definitely applies to the music of Extraperlo, but not the disco belonging to club nights and famous DJs. Spanish lyrics and breezy, tropical instrumentation take you away to a beachside discothequé of bubbling conversation, laughter and flowing drinks. Like the vacation you never want to end, Extraperlo craft rhythmic, sun-kissed and sand-touched lilting calypso dance rock. Equally melodic as a soundtrack for walks in the morning sun or dancing in the cool night air, Extraperlo’s music is an ode to wanderlust and escapism.
