LEXX’s Hexes - V

I can’t offer you a lot of information on LEXX. He’s quite the mysterion and I think I’d prefer to leave it that way. I can tell you he resides somewhere in Maryland and judging by his amazing album artwork (pictured above), most likely runs a tumblr site filled with images of laser-eyed kittens fighting necrophiliac jungle warrior women. In fact, I would say his music is equally aligned to that aesthetic of bizarre, collaged ephemera.
LEXX’s Slime Time is a collection of brief but intriguing sound experiments that run the genre gamut from 8-bit to IDM to cosmic funk and back again. There’s likenesses to Dam Funk, Flying Lotus and much of the Ghostly International roster in his compositions, but there’s also an unpolished rawness that allows LEXX the flexibility to flip styles like an ADD afflicted toddler digging through a bucket of Halloween candy. Despite the lack of any type of consistency, LEXX manages to pass off completely disparate sounds in a cohesive and wildly interesting manner.
Take a weird journey through a few selections off Slime Time below.
