We Some Wildcats Like Ratatat - V

Who’s putting The xx on their Best Of list? Oh admit it, you all are. The xx have become one of those rare bands that transcend genre preferences. DJs who spin House love the band, indie rock nerds love the band and now, even the hip-hop heads are joining the fanclub ranks.
A few months back we shared Them Jeans’ edit of The xx’s Shelter. Fellow BadBeat blogmate, Jams F. Kennedy of Brother Reade, just sent my way his hip-hop take on The xx. I wish this track was three times longer than the reality of its brief two minutes because it’s one of the more unique uses I’ve heard of The xx’s material. Jams takes the intro track of the album and utilizes it as a moody backdrop for his original rhymes. I appreciate that he approached his version differently, creating something new in favor of mashing up preexisting rhymes. Plus, Jams is just an undeniably skilled wordsmith. He’s one opponent whom I’d never want to face off against on the Scrabble board.
No Hennessy. No Tennessee.
