We’ve posted The xx often the past few months and it’s no secret we’re big fans. I’m eager to see what the band has in store in 2010 and hopeful they can maintain the high bar they set with their debut. As we await their tentative next footsteps, I’m going to share what will probably be our last mention of the XX until their next release.

I’ve been preferring edits lately over remixes. By nature the execution is much more subtle, focusing on adding to, rather than completely reworking, an original. Skinny Friedman of the Philadelphyinz, whom you may remember as Sammy Bananas partner in the A Year At The Player’s Club: The Gold Watch mixtape, sent over a nice edit of The xx’s Stars. His thumping bassline is a welcome addition that kicks off the intro and then blends in softly with the vocals. If you weren’t super familiar with the original track, you could easily mistake this edit for the real thing, and I like that.
