She Gave Up The Ghost Inside - bryanb

I am really enjoying this new track, The Ghost Inside, from the upcoming Broken Bells album. For those who don’t know, Broken Bells is a side project between The Shins lead singer, James Mercer, and the go-to indie hip-hop producer Dangermouse. While most of the album sounds like The Shins meets Postal Service (which isn’t a bad thing), with familiar vocals and light touches of beats and ambient sampling, The Ghost Inside sounds like a forgotten Gorillaz track with a tougher backbone percussion and a Damon Albarn-esque falsetto. Maybe I am just projecting my nostalgia for that zoological project, or maybe Dangermouse has a way of bringing out the inner animal in all his partnerships. Either way, more please.

Learn more about Broken Bells and their upcoming debut album here.

Note: The Ghost Inside removed by request. Please check out The High Road below instead.

I am 99% sure that is Albarn as 2D singing the lead, Mercer sounds like Bono on this track. Definitely sounds like a lost Gorillaz track…like it much more than their new single "Stylo" featuring Bobby Womack and Mos Def.
