LOLLAPALOOZA 2008 IS HERE! - V

Between the endless neighborhood streetfests, Pitchfork, Rock the Bells and now this weekend’s Lollapalooza, Chicago can’t get enough of summer. Frankly, I’m exhausted. But I’m not a pussy, so with my best bitch from Denver in tow and some random out of town bloggers I met on the internet, CreamTeam is set to destroy all the Lollapalooza festivities and afterparties.
I’ve been stressing all week about what sets to bootleg from the weekend. This morning though I decided to say fuck it and relax and enjoy myself for once. A chaotic day job and running this blog is a god damn lot of work. You really have no idea. Plus, Lollapalooza will have live coverage via XM radio of the entire weekend. If you aren’t able to attend, you can turn into the video and audio here.
As with Pitchfork, I will be feeding my commentary from the festival and afterparties into the right sidebar via Twitter. If you are a Twitter user and would like to follow along and let me know what you are up to, you can add my feed here.
If you aren’t down with the big festivals (or the hefty Lollapalooza pricetag), you can still party the next 3 days with sets by the bands and DJs in town for the weekend at any of the 800,000 afterparties going on across the city. We are big on supporting promoters and events and have teamed up with some of them to help bring you countless options for after (or instead of) Lollapalooza.
Tonight UK electro-rockers, Does It Offend You, Yeah? will be playing a DJ set at Smash&Crunch’s 1-year Anniversary party at Liars Club. There a ton of local DJs playing this event as well so it’s a great chance to go out and support Chicago talent.
For those of you wanting to get out of Wicker Park, Drop The Lime (aka Curses!) plays the Abbey Pub with Codebreaker, Aleks & The Drummer and Murderbot. This show is also 18+ so even if you can’t drink, there’s still places to party! The Abbey Pub will feature another 18+ show tomorrow night as well with Devlin & Darko (Spank Rock DJs), Franki Chan, Hearts Revolution, Hollywood Holt and Lauren Flax. Buy tickets for both shows here.
If you want an all-inclusive weekend party experience our friends over at Debonair Social Club, as always, have a ton going on. From tonight through Sunday, Debonair will host DJ sets from Bloc Party, CSS, Junior Sanchez and too many more to list. You can check out the flyers with full line-ups for each day on their site here.
I saved my personal favorite until last. Maybe I’m a bit biased since I spent all last weekend working on the flyer, but it’s Mo.B (of The Movement) and Todd Kane’s birthday and they are celebrating with a weekend of Lollapalooza afterparties titled The Goodlife. They kick it off tonight with all-star cast of the cities new rap movement at Darkroom featuring Hollywood Holt, Mic Terror, Million$Mano, Shala., and Skyler. Tomorrow night provides the peak of the weekend with a very special and very secret show at an undisclosed location featuring celebrity guest performances. Text “Goodlife” to 47201 tomorrow to receive the location. Mo and Todd close off the weekend Sunday night with Mic Terror, He Say She Say, Lance Milk, Ray Milian and Skyler at Evil Olive. These dudes are connected so expect plenty of Lollapalooza performer appearances in the clubs. And if there was any doubt that The Goodlife will indeed be good, they’ve created an mp3 promo of their industry friends wishing them a happy bday set over Kanye West’s The Goodlife.

You can also check out full versions of the flyers for all the weekend’s events on CreamTeam’s myspace page here.
Ok, I’ve written enough and it’s time unwind a bit before hitting Lollapalooza and the town tonight. If you catch me or any of the rest of the Chicago CreamTeamers out and about say HI!
