No One Can Hold A Candle To You - bryanb

I have always had a soft spot and a hard-on for Morrissey. With his mix of machismo and vulnerability, religious and sexual torment, he has proved to be an evergreen and alluring character. He’s a fascinating read, in a world full of crashing bores. His last two albums were mostly somber, reflective pieces, thanks in part to Tony Visconti’s meticulous, baroque production. Jerry Finn, who last worked on Morrissey’s You Are The Quarry, took the reigns this time around, and sadly passed of a massive brain hemorrhage one month after completing production duties for the new album, Years of Refusal. Perhaps ironically this new collection is an upbeat, mostly affirming testament to life and death and finds Morrissey at his most limber in years.

Opening track “Something is Squeezing My Skull” is a great summation of the albums elements, not to mention the fact that I could listen to him warble prescription meds into my ear forever….

Morrissey - Something Is Squeezing My Skull (256 kbps)

And for good measure, here’s one of my favorite Moz remixes:

Morrissey - Suedehead (Sparks Remix) (224 kbps)

Morrissey hits the road March 1st in support of his new album and you can see all the dates here.
