Sit Rex. Good Boy! - V

In the ten months since the launch of this site, I’ve discovered quite a bit of new music through the other CreamTeam writers. For example, I had never heard of London-based production team Rex The Dog until bryanb wrote them up back in July. Their album The Rex The Dog Show quickly became one of my favorite releases of 2008.

As someone who works in the advertising industry, I understand and value the importance of creating a strong brand image—perhaps a bit too much. So much of why I love Rex the Dog is attributed to their quirky, offbeat branding and humor. Through simple comic-style illustrations, Rex The Dog create an engaging dialogue with their audience, drawing them into the world of a silly little musical dog and his human partner. From their videos, to their myspace page, to the only e-mail newsletter thats actually a pleasure to read, Rex The Dog have a refreshing insight into musical branding that I sincerely hope others in the industry will take note of.

Rex The Dog have just premiered the video for their second single off The Rex The Dog Show titled Bubblicious. Director and Animator Geoffroy De Crecy take the boy and his dog on a DIY musical journey with little more an xacto knife and some cardboard. The result is very cute, very creative and very Rex The Dog. As a bonus, if you purchase the vinyl release (out Feb. 23rd) the backside can be cut out to make your very own Rex model, complete with puke!

Check out the full track below.
