The Only Phoenix Remixes You Need To Hear - V

Posted by V

My predictions were off. It’s been several weeks since the leak of the It’s Blitz from Karen O. & Co. and remix fever hasn’t set in, but with only a few days since the leak of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, the floodgates have opened. I won’t go as far as to issue a blanket statement, but the more timely the remix, more often than not, the better the quality.

The first set of Phoenix remixes to be passed our way are by our friends at Binary. Binary have a lot in common with France’s Valerie Collective whom we wrote up back in December. The LA-based collective of producers and artists are on a mission to spread their city’s music scene near and far. Binary is Fabian, Short Circuit, KeenHouse, NightWaves, LexiconDon, The Kids Are RADIOACTIVE and ALFA and much like Valerie, the Binary artists all have their own unique style, tied together by a common thread—dreamy disco melodies.

Two of the Binary artists, Nightwaves and Fabian took 1901, the first single from Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix for a spin, creating two distinctly different, but complementary takes. Fabian’s uptempo, digital rock rework is best listened to with the morning sun shining through your windows. NightWaves takes a breezier approach to his remix, creating a composition full of dreamy synths and gently pulsing disco production. Fabian’s bright take on the track is a perfect complement to the laidback, late night vibe of NightWaves’ remix. These two takes on the same tune pair so well that I wish they had titled the remixes a.m. and p.m.

Check out the only two Phoenix remixes you need to to hear:

Phoenix - 1901 (Fabian Remix) (320 kbps)

Phoenix - 1901 (NightWaves Remix) (320 kbps)
