After one listen, the new single from Clipse, featuring none other than Kanye West, doesn’t sound like the “big deal” that everyone expected. That’s after one listen. I know the Internet has produced a music community of listeners that lack the attention span to critique songs based on more than a first impression, but do yourself a favor and disregard your disorder for now.

Eventually, I grew to appreciate the record’s infectious sample and crisp drums. Once I gave each verse a thorough assessment, I realized just how effective each emcee’s delivery is and how well their flows complement the instrumental. The song that I would have initially dismissed is now my undisputed favorite of the week simply because I listened to it more than once.

Thank God my iTunes was stuck on repeat.
